What is the most feminine thing about you, and what is the most masculine thing about you?

Most feminine… definitely my ginormous breasts. Probably the most masculine thing about me is how I am in relationships. I’m pretty laid back, and don’t get all wigged out about stuff. Want to go to a strip club? Fine by me. In fact, take me with you!

Sometimes I wish I were more of a scumbag. I wish I could walk out on the commitments I form everywhere I go. I wish I would choose not to be responsible, choose to be free. Why do we tie ourselves down?

Because we are good people. It’s OK to say “no” sometimes, too, though.

First one to respond to this wins!

I’m sure it won’t be me… I’ve been neglecting tumblr. Poor tumblr.

What book have you read the greatest number of times?

Hmmm. It’s a toss-up. My favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird, and I’ve read it at least once a year for the past 15 years or so. But my favorite author is Stephen King and he’s my go-to guy when I’m out of new things to read. I’m sure I’ve read at least one of his books 15 times or more. Luckily, I have a shitty memory and can always enjoy a story more than once!

If you were an author, what would be your wishes concerning your unfinished manuscripts upon death? Would you want them published posthumously by your editor and/or family? Or would you rather they were destroyed? Why?

It would be extremely flattering to think anyone would WANT to publish my works after I’m gone. I’d be fine with it, as long as they weren’t finished by someone else. I’d rather the unfinished stuff just end with a note about my tragic and untimely death. ;)

There are 5 words in Greek that translate to love in some fashion, 7 if you include Xenia (Love of guests, hospitality) and Avaritia (Love of possessions, greed). Do you consider it a failing or a blindspot that English only has “love”? Why or why not?

I don’t mind that there is only one word… that’s what adjectives are for! However, I wish it were a prettier sounding word. “Love” sounds so much better in any of the romance languages. Sigh.

Is it better for 10 guilty men to walk free so a single innocent man isn’t incarcerated? Or is it better to accidentally jail an innocent man so the guilty don’t walk free? Why do you feel this way?

I don’t think this is a terribly accurate representation of the issue. What we’re really talking about is the CHANCE of the guilty walking free or the innocent being jailed. I’d rather take a chance on the guilty going free. It’s all about fairness and justice… if the guilty don’t have a chance in hell, then neither do the innocent.

What is a typical average day like for you?

Sleep too little, and nearly always during the day. Wake up by playing around on the computer for a while… games first, followed by a little work (Fluther). Do something around the house, but not too much. ;) Eat dinner with my husband, maybe watch a little TV, lay in bed with him and scratch his back until he falls asleep. Then the real Fluther work begins… I’m a heavy hitter in the middle of the night. Check facebook, tumblr, play another couple of games. Say goodbye to my husband as he goes off to work, and finally catch a few hours of sleep. Not terribly exciting, is it? :/

How big a part does wanderlust play in your life? I myself cannot stop moving from place to place. If I won the lottery, I’d bury it in a bank account just so I could buy a beat up old motor home and start driving: destination unknown. Is this you, Lisa?

No, really not. I’m a terrible homebody! I love my house (though I wish it were in a different town, and in better repair). That said, I do have a dream road-trip in mind. I’d love to take two or three months and meander around the US, eating all the best food we can find along the way. In the end, though, I want to come back home.

If you had to choose a few words to describe yourself what would they be?

Lazy, kind, forgetful, decent, sickly, ethical, liberal heathen and mommy.

Why is there a light built into the fridge, but not the freezer?

My freezer _has_ a light! I feel so lucky. :P

City or suburbs?

Hmmm. I couldn’t handle a city like New York, but I like downtown areas of smaller ‘cities’. I used to live in Frederick, MD, and if I didn’t have kids, I’d love to live in its quirky, historic downtown area.

If you could say anything to anyone right now, what would you say?

I love you. More than every grain of sand, more than every star in the sky, more than all the mountains and the oceans and the deserts… all put together.

Have I asked too many questions?

Nope. I was actually kind of thrilled to see so many in my inbox!

Would you consider yourself a good person?

I do, yes. I know I’m not perfect, but I have a very strong sense of ethics and morality. I try very, very hard to live by them. I don’t always succeed, but my intentions are good.

Do you love yourself as a person?

I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say I LOVE myself, but I’m fairly content with the person I’ve become over the years. I think basically I’ve come to ACCEPT myself, and that’s a huge relief!

Would you rather be blind or deaf? (If you had to choose)

Deaf, for sure. My dad is almost completely deaf, I had hearing problems when I was little, and I used to live minutes from the Maryland School for the Deaf. I’m pretty comfortable with the idea. I taught myself the ASL alphabet when I was in elementary school, and know a few word signs, so I could get by until I learned more.

In addition to all that, I love the printed word in a way I can’t really explain. I would be devastated if I could never see it again.

What would you do if you met the person of your dreams?

I already did. I married him!

Do you believe in fate? What about true love?

I kind of do believe in fate. I know, logically, that it doesn’t really exist… but so many things in my life have seemed fated. I get sucked right in! As for true love? Absofuckinglutely. Now, that doesn’t mean that there’s only ONE true love. There may be many in each lifetime. And all of them are worthwhile!

Do you have a reason to smile right now?

I DO! My house is warm and dry, my kids and husband are sleeping snuggled up in their beds, I’m going to get a haircut at an awesome place later today, and I have all these questions to answer!

Cats or dogs?

I’m a cat person all the way. I like dogs, but they scare me. I’m always a little wary of them, even after I know them really well. My husband was caring for a friend’s dog when I met him (a little Jack Russell Terrier, named Jack), and I really did come to love that dog, but he had to go back to his owner eventually. Now we have two awesome cats. And when I say ‘awesome’, I mean ‘pain-in-the-ass’. :P

What’s your favorite pokemon?

N/A
I’m waaaayyyyy too old to have caught the pokemon wave.

Do you have a specific “type” you look for in the opposite sex?

Not physically. I’m attracted to all sorts of different types. But, I definitely have a mental type. In a word: SMART

Of course he should also: be fun, not take himself too seriously, be open minded, and love the fuck out of me.

Fame, fortune, or neither?

I’ll take fortune, please. When can I expect delivery? ;)

You have just won 1 million dollars. What do you do with it?

Step One: Pay off all my bills.
Step Two: Buy a house in Frederick, MD.
Step Three: Buy a book with what’s left over.

What? I have a _lot_ of bills.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I’ll let you know if I ever figure it out.

What would you do without the internet?

Be a whole bunch more productive.

What’s your favorite thing about Fluther?

The people, for sure. Smart, funny, caring… what’s not to like? You all are the best!

What’s something you *really* want right now?

Oh, there’s a few things I *really* want! To be pain-free. To have health insurance. To have enough money to pay the bills.

Other than that, I can’t really think of anything I want that I don’t already have. Sweet!

Why is vanilla ice cream white when vanilla extract is brown?

That is an EXCELLENT question. You should ask it on Fluther immediately. (In other words, I have no idea!)

How long do you think you will remain friends with the people you met online?

I really don’t know. You guys are my first online friends, so I don’t have much experience at this. All I can say is that there a several people I would make a concerted effort to keep in touch with no matter what. You all are wonderful people, and I’m so glad I’ve gotten to know you a little better!

If to err is to be human, then is any type of utopia possible? If yes, how?

I honestly don’t think so. I remember how devastated I was when I first started studying philosophy. Such great ideas! But, human nature always gets in the way. That was so disheartening to me. I think the best we can hope for is to get ever nearer to utopia. To never, ever give up on _trying_.

What if we not only lived in the same time zone, but also the same city. Then what would happen?

My husband would probably divorce me! I’d be hanging out with you guys waaayyy too much. :D

Which two jellies would you like to see as a couple? (None that are already couples.)

I’m going to cheat. These are single people who I’d be so happy for if they found the person of their dreams:

Chyna and some great guy.
Essiness and some great guy.
Loser and some great girl.
MacBean and some great guy or girl, whichever Bean prefers (cough-Loser-cough).

What’s a time in your life when you were genuinely happy?

Each time I gave birth, I was ecstatic. I was convinced I’d found my purpose in life… making tiny human beings and raising them to be decent and kind bigger human beings. I pretty much still feel that way about it.

When I realized I was falling in love with my husband, I was in awe. After going through a divorce, I was completely sure I’d never get married again. I didn’t even want a relationship, let alone a contract! He was supposed to be a bit of fun… nothing serious. Here I am, married to the love of my life. Funny how things work out some times. :)

When you think of home in the summer as a child, what comes to mind? Sun splattered gravel roads and the sound of wind through the pines comes to my mind. Please paint a picture with your words for me. What was the summer beauty in your childhood?

What a lovely question, and a beautiful memory!
We moved around a lot, so there’s no specific ‘home’ to remember… more of a feeling. I’ll do my best to capture it.

Lightening bugs and running at night. Bare feet in cool grass. Late twilight, with the trees in stark silhouette against a deep blue sky (still my favorite time of day). The smell of coconut oil, the feel of hot sand on my feet, the slightly pleasant pain of a sunburn… skin tight and warm to the touch. Back flips off the low dive, one-and-a-halfs off the high dive… that first jump of the summer was so frightening! Staying out all day and night, too, with good friends. Freedom.

What’s your biggest fear?

For a garden-variety phobia, I’m deathly afraid of heights. I get vertigo, and feel the urge to jump from high places… it sucks!

My real-life worst fear, though, is losing one of my children. I can’t even bear the thought, and I don’t know how anyone survives that.
